Garret Godwin

Author

Garret Godwin has always been interested in writing. He wrote his first short story at the age of 8 years old. In college, he majored in English and Biology, and he went on to get his Masters in English. He made his living as a biomedical writer in the pharmaceutical industry for 30 years, and then he retired in his mid-fifties to write full- time. He has published five works so far – three novels, a collection of short stories, and an anthology of poetry. He loves to write and stays active in the literary community of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is currently working on a biography of his father and his two brothers.

Garret’s other interests include music – he was the keyboardist for a rock and roll band in Philadelphia called the Holdouts. He also loves his church. He is a tenor in the church choir, plays trumpet in the church brass quintet, and he plays music while he’s driving. He also likes to travel. His work has taken him to Europe many times. In the summer, he likes to go the beach and swim.

Lately, Garret has been attending his college homecomings. The next one that he eagerly awaits is St. John’s College’s homecoming in Annapolis, Maryland in late September. Garret is proud of his accomplishments at all four of the colleges he attended – Indiana university of Pennsylvania, Temple University, SSt. John’s Coellege, and the University of Pittsburgh.

Garret is a slow writer. It takes him three to four years to write a book. He does his best work in the morning between 8:00 and noon. He isn’t much use after 12:00 noon. He should complete the book he’s currently working on some time in 2026.
